General Meeting


April 18, 2026


Attendance: Lorene & Scott Jones, Robin & Tim Murphy, Bridgett & Jim Highley, Rachel Read, Christa Thompson, Jeanie Schuldt, Dawn & Doug Clausen, Tammy Pengelly, Debbie Berry, Alice Brown; Guest: Elaina Jones


Call to Order: 3:22 PM


  • President’s Report

    • Specialty went well, thank you to Robin for her hard work. The clinic went less smoothly but we’ll talk about that later.

  • Vice-President’s Report

    • There was an executive board meeting on April 15th to discuss some matters, which went well and was productive. Debbie has not yet updated the membership list.

    • Dawn made a motion for Debbie to put together the updated membership list and mail it out to everyone, and provide a PDF for Rachel to upload on the website. Bridgett seconded the motion.


  • Secretary’s Report

    • Rachel read the General minutes for the March meeting.

      • Correction made: Elaina Jones was present as a guest.

      • Minutes accepted as amended. Tammy/Robin

    • Rachel asked for clarification regarding a catalog ad the club is going to offer to contribute for the national. Said ad goes into the show catalog for the GRCA national. Rachel is going to find out what is needed for the advertisement and when it is due by.

  • Treasurer’s Report

    • General Checking: $10,404.73. General Savings: $5,968.10

      • Income was $240 from PayPal prepayments for the clinic, $6 from brags, miscellaneous interest.

      • Expenses were $204 toward Wix for the website, $50 donation towards Political Action Committee (PAC), and a few dollars for printing flyers for the clinics.

    • Specialty Checking: $7,377.48. Specialty Savings $3,368.39.

      • Income was $845 from clinic profits, $55 for trophy sponsorships, miscellaneous interest.

      • Expenses were $28.98 for American and Canadian Flags, and $182.60 for raffle reimbursements.

    • Clinic Numbers

      • Eye Clinic

        • 64 appointments, gross income was $2,600. Net Income was $820.

        • 2025 had 83 appointments, net income was $1,065.

      • Heart Clinic

        • Gross income: $8,113

        • Expenses: $6495.29

          • $180 for room rental

          • $5,750 paid to Dr Wallace

          • $190 in PayPal fees

          • $325 refunded due to no-show

      • Paypal is currently holding over $3000 because they do not like prepayments for services, and this was done in a brand new account. Jeanie is on her third appeal with PayPal, if this goes through then the rest of the money will be released to us before 120 days.

  • Old Business

    • CCA Committee (Rachel/Debbie/Christa)

      • Donna Ernst is going to be our second Category 1 judge.

      • Christa, Debbie and Rachel are going to meet to discuss specifics regarding the CCA and contracts for the judges. This will be on May 9th, 2026 at Olive Garden in Salem.

    • Breeder’s Education (Debbie)

      • This will probably be Debbie’s last Breeder’s education meeting, she does not yet have a subject in mind.

      • Rachel suggested a tutorial on how to navigate the new K9-Data and OFA websites, and offered to take the lead.

      • Robin suggested including how to use the AKC website, such as points progression, searching dogs, etc.

    • Puppy Referral

      • Susan has had no calls, Rachel is going to take over breeder referrals again, effective immediately.

    • Public/Member’s Education (Dawn)

      • Nothing on Public Education yet.

      • Is going to come up with something for Member’s Education.

    • Website (Rachel)

      • 364 sessions, 274 unique visitors.

    • Facebook Group (Christa/Kelli)

      • Sandy Loeb and Kathy Thurman have been removed from the group.

    • Facebook Page

      • 2235 views, 193 engagements, 12 new followers.

    • Hospitality (Tammy/Jeanie)

      • N/A

    • 2027 Specialty

      • We will discuss committee chairs at the next meeting.

      • Debbie will narrow down the list of judges to 5, and bring that to discuss next month.

    • Clinics

      • Overall went pretty well, there were some major issues in the beginning which put us behind schedule, including Dr Maxwell having malfunctions with her equipment, delays in getting the lights turned off in the conference room, and the first appointment of the day taking far longer than it should have. Christa made an executive decision to move up a customer with multiple dogs to get them done and out of the way which contributed to a lot of the chaos. Christa apologized and said this will not happen again. After that the clinic went smoothly for the rest of the day. Thank you to all the volunteers.

      • Christa has been corresponding with the Clackamas Kennel Club and Rachel with the Greater Clark County Kennel Club about finding a spot to hold a second clinic in 2027. Rachel will also reach out to the Vancouver Kennel Club.

      • SignUp Genius worked really well. Lorene is going to help Christa set up her own account for next year. 

    • New Business

      • Lorene asked about Lyssa’s membership as she will be turning 18.

        • We will table this until next month.

      • 2026 Officers

        • Jeanie made a spreadsheet to track how many meetings each member was present for so the votes are coming only from those qualified.

        • The Officers for 2026 are as follows:

          • President: Christa Thompson

          • Vice-President: Lorene Jones

          • Treasurer: Jeanie Schuldt

          • Secretary: Rachel Read

          • Board: Dawn Clausen, Robin Murphy, Tammy Pengelly.

      • Alice announced she is retiring from breeding dogs, and let Rachel know she has adults available for Puppy Referrals.

      • In order for the club members to get to know each other better, Christa is going to start doing a Question of the Month.


Meeting adjourned at 5:09 PM. Rachel motioned, Jim seconded.
