Secretary’s Report: 

• July minutes read by Rachel, minutes accepted as amended. (Tammy/Lorene)

• Correspondence: N/A

Vice President’s Report: 

• Second reading of Karen Millikan’s membership application. Karen is not present, so we will vote at the next meeting.

Treasurer’s Report:

• General: $15,333.78

  • Paid $40 fee to Oregon Department of Justice, $18.85 towards Oregon goods for the basket for the National.

• Specialty: $10,450.55

  • Earned miscellaneous interest.

Old Business

• September Potluck: 

  • Grooming lesson/potluck on September 7th, 2025 at Tammy’s house at 2:00PM. Christa and Dawn are bringing dogs for demonstration, no other dogs. Bring your own chair and drinks. Tammy to be provided a budget of up to $100 for the purchase of protein for the potluck. (Lorene/Alice)

• Committee Reports

  • Breeder Education (Debbie)

    • The Golden Retriever Structure: To be done in conjunction with the grooming lesson on Sept 7th.

• Puppy Referral (Rachel/Susan):

• Member/Public Education (Christa/Dawn):

  • Discussion was had regarding doing Meet the Breeds at Clackamas KC Show instead of (or in addition to) Portland. Concern about the rising costs associated with attending the Rose City Classic, as well as concern about the weather and the new show site in McMinnville making a potential Meet the Breeds event inconvenient and/or more stressful. Dawn will chair Meet the Breeds events.

• Website (Rachel/Alice):

  • Discussed the latest traffic metrics.

  • Created a website page for the awards and their winners, should it be made public or just for members? It was agreed that the page will be visible to the public.

• Facebook Group (Private) (Christa/Kelli)

• Facebook Page (Public) (Lorene/Rachel)

  • Discussed the latest metrics

• Hospitality (Tammy/Jeanie):

  • N/A

• Awards (Christa/Debbie)

  • Replacement Perpetual Golden Ambassador trophy currently being made, it should be ready sometime next week.

• Chintimini KC Eye, possible Heart Clinic (April 4, 2026) (Christa)

  • Reached out to Dr Gabrielle Wallace about doing a heart clinic. Has not yet heard back.

• Show Committees for 2026 Specialty

  • Show Chair: Robin

    • Discussed using BaRay instead, we are just going to use Onofrio unless we move the Specialty to a different All-Breed Show.

    • No judges yet. Debbie narrowed down the list to about a third of what it was before, is going to whittle it down some more and discuss it with Linda.

    • Robin is going to submit the form for the specialty, will update it when we have our judges selected.

    • CCA will be complicated to add as part of the specialty, possibly do a standalone or in conjunction with an All-Breed Show, possibly Ridgefield. Jeanie will reach out to the KC and ask about it.

    • Adding BPUP to the Specialty for 2026.

    • Will discuss entry fees with Chintimini before we make a final decision about ours.

• Obedience Chair: Karen (assisted by Robin)

  • Robin sent the contract to Sharon Redmir for obedience and rally. Sharon charges $300/day but will adjust her fees for low entries.

• Sweeps Chair: Debbie

  • Sending contract to Amy Rosling for Juniors and Sweeps.

  • Discussion was had regarding using Cheyenne for Juniors, not this time but we can consider her later on for Juniors and/or Sweeps.

• Hospitality: Tammy/Jeanie

  • N/A

• Decorations: Rachel Read

  • Theme: The “Golden” Age of Cinema - Red & Gold color scheme, vintage movie/theater decorations, “popcorn bucket” raffle bags, etc.

• Trophies and Ribbons: Christa

  • Coasters and Glass Plates, Christa adding Golden Retriever silhouette decals to them.

  • Discussed asking people to sponsor trophies. That will help us increase our revenue from the specialty.

  • Discussed including with the trophy a card congratulating the winners and asking if they want to sponsor that trophy for next year.

  • Create a form on the website with a list of trophies which need sponsors where people can sign up to sponsor the trophies.
